DDS helpline starts receiving calls from hearing impaired
DDS has two numbers 73373 24466 for visually impaired and 73374 34422 for deaf and mute
Visakhapatnam: The DDS (DISHA-DIVYANG SURAKSHA) helpline, inaugurated on December 1 in Visakhapatnam, has quickly gained traction, fielding 17 calls from various places, including Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, apart from calls originating from within Vizag city limits.
DDS has two numbers – 73373 24466 for visually impaired and 73374 34422 for deaf and mute. There is a team of three experts to interpret sign language at the deaf and mute facility, swiftly dispatching the nearest police officers to provide immediate aid to the caller.
One of them is G. Sharada, an education resource person from Agung Shiksha, operating from the police control room. She seamlessly translates video calls from the deaf and mute, ensuring clear communication between the disabled and law enforcers.
