TRS dares Bandaru Dattatreya for debate on Central funds
Mr Prabhakar also said that they were pained when Mr Dattatreya was removed from the Union Cabinet,
Hyderabad: Telangana Rashtra Samiti leaders have challenged former Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya to a debate on central assistance to the state. TRS MLCs Karne Prabhakar and Farooq Hussain said the people would not believe the false claims of BJP leaders on Central assistance.
Speaking to mediapersons on Monday at Telangana Bhavan, Mr Prabhakar said the TRS was ready for a debate on Central assistance given to the state. He alleged that Centre’s attitude was one of neglect towards Telangana state.
Mr Prabhakar said that when BJP president Amit Shah had spoken about Central assistance in the past, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had contradicted him with facts and figures. Now Mr Dattatreya was making the same mistake, he said.
Mr Prabhakar said that instead of answering the questions raised by TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, the BJP leader was talking in an irresponsible manner.
Mr Prabhakar also said that they were pained when Mr Dattatreya was removed from the Union Cabinet, but would have appreciated if he had mounted pressure on the Central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the interests of the state.
He said that the Centre had given assistance to BJP-ruled states without their requesting it and had neglected Telangana state, even after several requests. He asked the Centre why it had denied financial assistance to Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya when Niti Aayog had recommended assistance of '24,000 crore for these projects.
