CM Jagan okays 23 per cent pay firment
The decision puts an additional burden of Rs 10,247 crore on the state treasury
Vijayawada: Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday announced PRC with 23 per cent fitment. He also announced a raise of the retirement age from 60 to 62 years.
The decision puts an additional burden of Rs 10,247 crore on the state treasury. Also, all the pending arrears like PF, GLI, leave encashment will be cleared by April 2022. The chief minister said the new pay scales shall come into force from January 2022.
The monetary benefits will be applied from 1-4-2020 and the enhanced pay scale along with the pending DAs will be effective from January 2022, he said.
The leaders of government employees unions and associations attended a meeting with the CM at the CMO. Jagan held talks on PRC with officials from Friday morning. The CM also announced a timeline for CPS.
The CM said fitment is almost 9 per cent more than what was proposed in the PRC -- at 14.29 per cent -- by the chief secretary committee and this will be with retrospective effect from 1-7-2018.
Considering employees' experience as an asset to the state, the CM said he would raise the retirement age from 60 to 62 to ensure continued use of their services. This will be implemented from this January.
As for CPS, a decision will be made by the end of June, as a cabinet subcommittee has already been formed.
The Chief Minister promised jobs for family members of the employees who died of Covid19, on compassionate grounds, by the end of June. He constituted a committee with the chief secretary at its head to revamp the Employee Health Scheme (EHS) for its better implementation. He advised the panel to resolve the issues within two weeks.
For the employees working in the Village and Ward Secretariats, a revised pay scale will be given from July this year, after the completion of the probation and confirmation process by June 30.
The chief minister also announced the government would provide houses to employees who don't own a house, by reserving 10 per cent of the plots in MIG layouts in Jagananna Smart Townships. A 20 per cent rebate is also promised on this.
“The constituency will be treated as a unit,” he said and affirmed that no employee will be deprived of housing.
Jagan said many states are already implementing the central government's pay revision. The state government shall also follow the same from now on.
Prior to the announcements, the chief minister held talks with finance minister Buggana Rajendranath and government adviser Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, apart from the union leaders.
