Animal NGOs form new panel

Hyderabad: Volunteers of different animal welfare groups came together on Sunday and formed 'Animal Warriors India' to streamline their work, especially for rescue of stray animals.
Mr Pradeep Nair, an animal welfare activist, said, "We have not registered the group. We do not want it to be another animal welfare NGO.” He said the group was a platform for animal rescuers to share information, train new volunteers and help each other. Experienced animal rescuers will share their knowledge with new volunteers.
“Many people confuse animal welfare with feeding a stray animal which is wrong. There needs to be streamlining of what animal welfare means,” he said. On Sunday around 50 volunteers of animal welfare NGOs were trained on basics of animal rescue and precautions to be taken while rescuing animals. This was followed the rescue of a dog which had got its head stuck in a plastic container at Journalists Colony.
