Visakhapatnam: Social networking websites are witnessing an unprecedented flow of shared pictures and posts from Vizagites with the city is wearing a bridal look for the International Fleet Review.

Youngsters and families made a beeline to the beach road from the morning and showed no signs of leaving till past midnight. Almost everyone with a camera-equipped phone or a camera was clicking away, capturing the grand event.

The pictures of illuminated ships at anchor were the most circulated pictures on Facebook and Whatsapp.

The renovated war memorial with the flags of all countries participating in the IFR, teh gallery, war tanks were also popular backdrops in the pictures shared by the citizens on social networking websites.

The giant replicas of tigers, elephants and crocodiles that were erected on the beach road are a big hit among the locals and visitors.

“I am happy that Vizag at least applied a fairness cream, patching up the deep holes and making them shallow, putting a canopy to conceal the pollution layered sky,  and covering slums of the fisherman community with tents which are the main part of Vizag . Yes, we are smart and global. But are we able and to tell the difference... only time will tell; only time will tell...!!  Signing off to salute to this great country in front of a TV,”  a facebook user Sai Padma Murthy posted.

Those who could not make it to the IFR are also posting that they were missing Vizag after looking at the pictures on Facebook.

“Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures.  I wanted to be there in Vizag, but could not. Still, I am happy that I am able to see the pictures.... Missing Vizag even more,” posted a Facebook user Chandrasekhar Raj.
