Pawan Kalyan urges state to attend to Kapu issues

Hyderabad: As Mudragda Padmanabham is hogging the limelight and re-emerging as Kapu leader, Tollywood actor and Jana Sena founder Pawan Kalyan, also a Kapu, has broken his silence and pleaded that the government do the needful to end the pro-reservation protest.

In a tweet on Sunday, Pawan Kalyan said the government should hold direct talks with the Kapu leaders spearheading the agitation. He also urged the government to form an intellectuals’ group and find an amicable solution before the situation got out of control. Pawan Kalyan’s flexis had been burnt recently by Kapu youths, over his silence on the reservation issue.

Kapu women gathered in Repalle in Guntur district in support of the demand on Sunday and burned the banners of Pa-wan Kalyan. Hours later, he tweeted, “I request TDP government to enga-ge in direct talks with Kapu leaders spearheading the ongoing reservation demand, which was an election promise from the TDP. A group of intellectuals should be entrusted with the responsibility of finding a mutually acceptable solution before it (develops) into an uncontainable situation.”

Meanwhile, No.1 news channel CMD Manchala Sai Sudhakar Naidu has announced he would go on an indefinite fast from Fe-bruary 9 demanding lifti-ng of cases booked again-st Kapu youths. Sudhakar Naidu had also been made an accused in one of the cases registered by the AP police on unlawful assembly and conspiracy.

Tuni arson: Crowd clues help CID

AP Police probing the violence at Tuni during the Kapu garjana, has identified at least 80 rioters, including a few rowdy-sheeters who set fire to the Ratnachal Express and police stations.

CID sleuths, with the help of cops of various districts, identified several of the suspects.

For the first time, the crowd sourcing of police investigation that included identification of the accused in photographs and video clips has been on a large scale.

An official of East Godavari district said, “There is huge response from the public to our request for video clips and or photographs taken by the public to be sent to WhatsApp number 9440904859 and email tunimeeting@gmail.com. People are also giving us the names of the attackers and rioters that they have identified. This has been of immense help in the investigation.”

The state government had on Saturday issued orders handing over the cases to the CID. The case pertaining to Government Railway Police regarding the burning of the Ratnachal Express too has been handed over to the CID.
