Visakhapatnam: Security has been tightened at Niloufer Children’s Hospital as families of the five women who died during C-Section at the hospital in a week’s time held demonstrations on Tuesday. Hospital authorities said efforts were being made to ensure that there was no inconvenience to patients and children as a result of the protests.

Around 20 policemen including women constables were deployed along with 14 police officials in mufti. However, the main entrance remained closed during the day, and it was opened briefly, once in a while, for the senior hospital authorities to go in. Media too was not allowed into the hospital. Cops said the security ring they spread around the hospital was to ensure patients were not put to difficulties by protests, patients said security was in fact adding to their problems.
