Karnataka: Legislators want dedicated lane at toll plazas
Mahadevappa said that the government will look into this issue though the control and management of toll plazas is vested in NHAI.
Bengaluru: Both opposition and ruling party members in the Upper House expressed their displeasure over the rude behaviour of toll plazas employees and their inability to provide a dedicated lane for VVIP and ambulance movement. During question hour, JD(S) member R. Chowda Reddy drew the attention of PWD minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa to the attitude of toll plaza employees claiming they have scant respect for public representatives.
With National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) not doing anything to provide a dedicated lane at toll plazas, the state government must take steps to ensure such lanes, he demanded.
In reply, Mr Mahadevappa said that the government will look into this issue though the control and management of toll plazas is vested in NHAI. To discuss problems pertaining to toll plazas, the government has called a meeting with NHAI officials on February 13. MLAs and MLCs are being invited to the meeting so that they can give their suggestions, the minister said.
