Miffed, TRS MPs boycott Parliament session

Hyderabad: In a sudden twist, the TRS, which had hitherto been supporting the NDA government on all key issues, announced boycott of Parliament session for two days in protest against the Centre’s “unhelpful” attitude towards the TS government, including cancellation of the appointment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to an all-party delegation on SC categorisation led by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

TRS Floor leader in the Lok Sabha A.P. Jitender Reddy told newsmen in New Delhi that in protest against the Centre’s attitude, all party MPs have boycotted the Parliament session since Monday after participating in debate on motion of thanks on the President’s address. Mr Reddy said TRS MPs will decide whether to continue with their boycott of the session on February 8 and 9.

His announcement came after Mr Chandrasekhar Rao returned for Hyderabad on Tuesday evening. Mr Reddy said despite the TRS supporting the NDA government on all its major initiatives and legislations, including demonetisation, the state did not get any major project in return. Mr Reddy accused the NDA government of step-motherly treatment towards TS. “The Centre’s response to our requests has not been positive and definitely not encouraging,” he said.
