Telangana: Petition against Verizon taken up

Satya Prasad told the court that the management of the company forcibly obtained resignations from over 200 employees.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday admitted a writ petition by several former employees of a US-based MNC Company, Verizon Data Services, seeking to direct the labour department of Telangana to ensure their re-instatement into the company from which they were illegally terminated.

While admitting the petition by N. Bala Sreedhar and 51 other terminated employees of Verizon Data Services, Justice M.S. Ramachandra Rao permitted the petitioners to serve notice to the company. A. Satya Prasad, senior counsel appearing for the petitioners, told the court that the management of the company forcibly obtained resignations from over 200 employees on December 12 and 13, 2017. 

He alleged that bouncers were deployed to force the employees sign the resignation papers and all the petitioners, including a pregnant woman employee, were forcibly thrown out of firm.

The counsel for the petitioners informed the court that when the petitioners approached the joint commissioner of labour with complaints against the company, for obtaining forcible resignations.
