Bengaluru: In more precautions against the BJP’s threat to disrupt the presentation of the budget by Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy on Friday, the government may distribute copies of the budget among the legislators only after he has finished spelling out its contents, according to sources.

The idea is to prevent the BJP members from tearing the budget copies in protest against the government presenting it despite some of its  MLAs staying away from the session, they reveal.

Mr Kumaraswamy, who wants to avoid such an embarrassment, has decided to follow the Lok Sabha pattern of distributing the budget copies after it is presented and conveyed this to Speaker Ramesh Kumar, say sources.

However, taking strong objection to this, state BJP chief, B S Yeddyurappa has written to the Speaker asking him to distribute the budget copies soon after the Chief Minister begins his presentation as has been the practice so far.

The BJP, which caused a ruckus during the Govenor’s address to the joint session of the legislature, objecting to the “lies” he was made to tell by the coalition government, now reportedly plans to stage a dharna in the well of the House all through  the Chief Minister’s budget presentation.
