Thiruvananthapuram: BJP core committee meeting held here on Thursday  witnessed heated exchanges when BJP state general secretary K. Surendran allegedly raised the issue of bringing back V. V. Rajesh, former state secretary who was removed from party responsibilities. A top BJP leader told DC that it saw BJP state general secretary M. T. Ramesh walking out from the meeting in protest against the demand.

It should be recalled that Ramesh's political future was at stake when there was a campaign against him unleashed by the then dissident faction led by former state president V. Muraleedharan. At the core committee meeting, the remaining two general secretaries, Sobha Surendran and A. N. Radhakrishnan also vehemently expressed their displeasure in coming up with a recommendation to bring back Rajesh.

“This is happening at a time when former BJP state president Kummanam Rajasekharan who is currently the Governor of Mizoram is being brought back to active politics. It was Kummanam who had suspended him and there is a move by a dissident faction to bring back Rajesh which has been opposed tooth and nail by former state president P. K. Krishnadas and three of the general secretaries", said a top BJP leader.
