Bengaluru: The body of city youngster Rajeev Naidu, who was declared brain dead in Brooklyn, New York and whose organs were donated by his parents, is likely to arrive in Bengaluru on Wednesday, his family said.
Rajeev’s family donated his heart, eyes, kidneys, pancreas, liver, bone marrow and esophagus to The Brooklyn Hospital Center.
Rajeev Naidu’s brother-in-law Jayanth, who has coordinated and completed all the formalities in the US, has already left New York with the body and is on the way to the city, a family friend said.
Rajeev’s father Purushotham, his mother Geeta, sister Kruthika and his other family members are going through a harrowing time at their house in Vidhyanagar in Bommasandra near Electronic City and have not eaten or slept properly in the last few days, the friend said.
A family member said that Rajeev’s two friends and roommates, Ravi and Suhas, took care of him while he was undergoing treatment and subsequently died at Brooklyn Hospital Center.
Rajeev Naidu was pursuing his masters in engineering at the New York University in Washington Square South. He was a second semester student of industrial engineering and was bright in his studies, scoring 4.5 for 5 on his grades. He lived in a rented accommodation on 12th Avenue in Bayridge in New York.
