Vijayawada city police have taken up a programme of felicitating more than 100 women in the city who did extensive work in various fields.

Vijayawada city police have taken up a programme of felicitating more than 100 women in the city who did extensive work in various fields.

Vijayawada: Vijayawada city police have taken up a programme of felicitating more than 100 women in the city who did extensive work in various fields. Joint commissioner of police Hari Kumar had organised a meeting  with the women who were selected for the felicitation and admired their efforts. Mr Hari Kumar said that police have taken the initiative to recognise the women who have been achieving significant growth despite tough situations. “We have selected the woman from different categories and will felicitate them at concerned pol-ice stations on Wedne-sday”, he said.  

“We have given priority to the woman who are striving for the survival of their families without the support of men,” said Mr Hari Kumar Dara karuna Sri, social activist from the city, said that she was happy for the recognition from Vijayawada city police for her work in cornea collection. She said that she have collected around 1600 corneas, 8 organ donations and 35 body donations for medical colleges in city.

Karuna Sri said that felicitation from police is motivating her to do more for the society. Another woman Lakshmi Annapurna founder of MARGAM a voluntary organization working on clean city says that she was happy for the felicitation from city police. Meanwhile, the police will organise special programmes on Wednesday as part of International Women's Day celebrations. Police, in association with various shopping malls and associations had announced special discounts on Womens’ Day. Share-auto ride in city will be free for women.
