Karnataka PU paper leak: More teachers under scanner
PT teachers reveal that a principal was also involved; college board members to be questioned.
BENGALURU: The CID officials probing the second PU chemistry question paper leak case are most likely to arrest a few more teachers, including the principal of a college, in connection with the scam.
The revelations of the arrested five accused in connection with the case has hinted that the principal of a private college is also involved in the scam. “The questioning of PT teachers, Anil and Satish, has revealed that the principal of a private college was also involved in the case.
He would be picked up very soon as the teams are hunting for him. Besides, role of a few other teachers has emerged during the course of investigation. All suspects will be questioned in the coming days,” an official said.
It is said that some of the members of the administrative boards of private colleges will also be interrogated as part of the probe. Anil and Santosh, who were arrested on Wednesday, were produced before the First ACMM court on Thursday, and the court remanded the duo in police custody till April 16.
The police are now tracking the callers who contacted the suspects Shivakumar, Dinesh and Kiran on March 20 and 30, a day before the exam and re-exam. “The call details report of the three suspects are being verified to know who all approached them to get the question paper. Once it is done, the address of the callers will be identified and will be summoned for questioning,” the official added.
Meanwhile, the police are also trying to know who made notes of the questions, which was circulated to others. “All the questions were handwritten and it is suspected that PT teacher Manjunath’s wife Leelavathi has written it. Her handwriting samples are collected and both will be matched by experts. If it turns out to be her’s, she will also be booked. However, she is absconding since the arrest of her husband,” the official said.
Accused to move panel?
Sources said that Manjunath, Obalaraju and Rudrappa, who were arrested on Monday, were reportedly threatening the interrogators that they would complain to the Human Rights Commission if they are harassed.
“They are under the impression that they would be soon out on bail and thus are threatening officers that they will accuse them of harassment. However, the questioning of the accused is continued in full swing,” another official said.
