Bengaluru: A seemingly confident Congress president, Rahul Gandhi asserted on Saturday that his party would not only win  the  soon to be held Karnataka assembly poll, but also the Lok Sabha poll next year and all the other approaching state elections.

Addressing a rally in Kolar, he told the crowd,  "We will defeat the BJP and RSS ideology in Karnataka. And then, we will defeat them in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh and the Lok Sabha elections due next year.

Our party is sure to win in Karnataka. All Congress Workers and leaders are working unitedly. We have utmost confidence that no one can defeat the Congress in Karnataka. We will deliver on our promises again and give an even better government. This is not a political fight, but a battle for protecting the soul of Karnataka and we will win it." He added that it was owing to the Congress government's people-friendly policies in Karnataka, that its fuel prices were the lowest amongst all southern states. "By abolishing the 5 per cent entry tax, we have ensured that the average person doesn't face the brunt of the rising fuel prices which have become a trend under the Modi government," he said.

As part of his campaigning Mr  Gandhi visited the Baba Hyder Vali Dargah in Mulbagal and the Kaadumale Ganesha Temple. He was accompanied by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and other leaders.
