Implement RERA immediately: NBF

Though 13 States have already implemented RERA Act, the state government has not specified any timeline to implement it.

BENGALURU: Members of Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF) and Fight for RERA staged a protest at Puttanna Chetty Town Hall demanding implementation of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 at the earliest by the state government.

Though 13 States have already implemented RERA Act, the state government has not specified any timeline to implement it.

Rajya Sabha member Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Founder Trustee, NBF said, “This fight is about Consumer Right and Builder’s Accountability. Through notifying RERA, home buyers will get their rights and builders will be held accountable. I strongly support consumer rights and urge Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to issues RERA rules without any further delay and without diluting the law! If there is any delay or dilution in RERA Karnataka rules, homebuyers supported by me will go to court.”

Sridhar Pabbisetty, CEO, NBF said, “In spite of repeated assurance from the state government that the May 1 deadline will not be missed and RERA rules will not be diluted, we are extremely agitated that the RERA rules have not yet been notified.”
