Amit Shah assures Mahadayi water will flow in 6 months
Terms Cong, Siddaramaiah anti-farmer, Says Sriramulu will defeat the CM in Badami.
Hubballi: Despite Prime Minister Narendra Modi facing the wrath of farmer leaders for his statement on Kalasa Banduri project, BJP national president Amit Shah visited Nargund town, the nerve centre of the Mahadayi agitation, and promised to resolve the inter-state water dispute within six months of coming to power.
Addressing a party rally while campaigning for party candidate C.C. Patil, he said that the ego of the state government has deprived people of Mumbai-Karnataka region of river water. Terming the Congress government as anti-farmer, he said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is in deep slumber though more than 3,500 farmers in debt have committed suicide.
“Mahadayi water will flow into every household and farm land once BJP comes to power in the state. The party will give priority to the implementation of irrigation projects and waiver of farmer loans to the tune of Rs 1 lakh”, Mr Shah said.
Expressing confidence that BJP candidate B. Sriramulu will defeat Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in Badami, he claimed that AICC president Rahul Gandhi is making preparation to go to Kailash Manasarovar as he has accepted defeat in the Karnataka Assembly elections. Stating that law and order has totally collapsed in the state, he said his party will punish all killers of Hindu activists after coming to power.
Meanwhile, rural development and panchayat raj minister H.K. Patil has filed a complaint with the Election Commission against Prime Minister Narendra Modi accusing him of violating the poll code of conduct by promising to resolve Mahadayi water dispute after coming to power in the state. Modi had assured in BJP rally in Gadag on Saturday that he will find a solution to the issue after holding a meeting of all three states.
