Officials delay CM K Chandrasekhar Rao property registration plan
Under the new system, tahsildars were given powers to register property in place of sub-registrars.
Hyderabad: The new property registration system in Telangana State has hit a roadblock yet again. The new registration system was supposed to be implemented on a pilot basis from Monday — May 7 — in five mandals and based on the feedback received it was scheduled to be extended to the entire state from June. However, the registrations department failed to create necessary technological infrastructure in any of the registration offices where pilot project was planned, forcing the government to put off the project for now.
Under the new system, tahsildars were given powers to register property in place of sub-registrars. Registrations will be done in MRO offices as against sub-registrar offices at present. A special website “Dharani” has been devised for the purpose, making the entire property registration transparent. Dharani website is similar to that of the core banking solutions used by banks.
Under this system, property buyers and sellers have to seek time slot online for the registration similar to the process followed for applying a passport. Time slot and SMS alerts will be sent to buyers and sellers on property transactions instantly similar to that of banks sending SMS alerts to customers on cash deposits and withdrawals. During a review meeting at Pragathi Bhavan last week, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao announced that the pilot project will begin in five mandals on May 7.
After the CM’s decision, officials shortlisted Jagadevpur MRO office in Siddipet district, Sadashivnagar in Kamareddy district, Kusumanchi in Khammam district, Malkajgiir in Medchal district and Kothur in Ranga Reddy district. However, the officials have failed to create the required technological infrastructure in these five MRO offices to take up advanced property registration system. The state government also needs to issue a gazette notification empowering tahsildar to perform property registrations.
