SI transferred over PM's itinerary leak
Although the news of transfer was confirmed by the officials, they refused to elucidate the exact reason for the action.
Chennai: Selvaraj, a sub-inspector attached to Pondy Bazaar police station was on Monday, reportedly, transferred and kept in the waiting list in connection with the leak of Prime Minister's itinerary leak.
According to police sources, the action has been taken after the travel plans of Prime Minister Modi were leaked during his visit to Chennai on April 12 to inaugurate the Defence Expo. Although the news of transfer was confirmed by the officials, they refused to elucidate the exact reason for the action.
It may be noted that the Kancheepuram district crime branch police had registered a case against the persons, who leaked the itinerary and are investigating.
The police also believe that the leak is the major reason behind the well-organised protest against the PM’s visit on April 12, which apparently embarrassed the Prime Minister and his office. The police sources have suggested that many police personnel are under scanner and the action would be taken against them.
