SSLC: Bengaluru, Mysuru boys get full score as rural students outdo urban areas

BENGALURU: The SSLC results for the academic year 2017-‘18 witnessed an increase of pass percent this year (4.06%). The results were announced at the Karnataka Secondary Examination Board (KSEEB) headquarters in the city by Principal Secretary for Primary and Secondary Education Shalini Rajneesh on Monday.
“More than 6.02 lakh students out of 8.38 lakh students from the state who appeared for the exams this year has cleared the exams,” she said. While two students scored 625 out of 625, a total of 116 students scored 620 and above (more than 99.2%).
Girls outshone boys as usual as 78.01% of females cleared the exam when compared to 66.56% of their male counterparts who did so. 62.6% of students who took the exams in Kannada medium tasted success while 79.26% of those who took the papers in English managed to get passing scores and more.
Udupi district topped the list with 88.18% while Yadgir recorded the least pass percentage (35.54). As many as 33,046 students secured A+ grades this time. At the same time, 1,342 schools in the state recorded an ‘all pass’ result while 43 schools recorded ‘zero pass.’ KSEEB Director V. Sumangala said that the Student Achievement Tracking System (SATS) helped the board to send detailed results with marks and grades as SMS to each student.
“The results were sent to their respective SATS- registered mobile numbers,” she said. In-charge Commissioner for Public Instruction M.T. Reju said that the process of collecting student data online this year helped the government save time, energy and money, making the process more transparent. Supplementary exams will be held from June 21 to 28. The last date to pay the fees for the same is May 19.
