Hyderabad: Skipping rope strangulates boy

Hyderabad: An 11-year-old boy, who was playing with a skipping rope, was strangled to death when the rope got entangled around his neck at his house in Balapur on Monday night. The boy was rushed to a hospital for treatment, but was declared dead on arrival, said the police.
K. Lokesh lived with his paternal uncle in Mallapur after his parents committed suicide in 2011 by self immolation. He studied in Class V in a nearby private school.
On Monday night, the uncle, K. Prabhakar, went out on some work while his wife Haritha was washing clothes outside the house. Lokesh was playing alone with a skipping rope.
“When Lokesh was skipping in the kitchen, one end of the rope got stuck to a hook and the rope got entangled around his neck. He tried to pull the rope out of the hook on a wall beside him, but the rope tightened around his neck and he fell on the floor, receiving a bleeding injury to his head. When Haritha completed her work half an hour later and went into the kitchen, she saw the boy unconscious,” said Inspector V. Saidulu of the Balapur police.
He said that the boy was rushed to a nearby private hospital and then to Niloufer Hospital in Nampally, but was declared brought dead.
A case under section 174 of the CrPC has been registered and the body was handed over to his relatives after the autopsy at Osmania General Hospital on Tuesday, said the inspector.
