Land registration halted in Amaravati
The decision was taken to ensure smooth distribution of reconstituted plots.
Amaravati: The registration of land in villages in the capital region has been halted for sometime to enable distribution of reconstituted plots to farmers who contributed for the construction of capital through the land pooling scheme (LPS).
The CRDA is making all arrangements to begin distribution of reconstituted plots after June 15. The distribution of plots would begin in Nelapadu, the first village to pool lands for the new capital of Amaravati.
The government has decided to stall sale/purchase of land in the villages as it would create trouble to the CRDA to distribute reconstituted plots.
Farmers who pooled their land did not show interest in applying for plots as they were not happy with the sizes proposed by the CRDA. The poor response from the farmers made the CRDA revise the size of the plots but even then only 8,000 farmers of the total 21,500 who pooled their lands for the capital submitted applications.
A CRDA official said several farmers who are wanting big plots are purchasing lands pooled by other farmers and registering it in the name of the buyer with the CRDA which is delaying submission of application for the reconstituted plots.
Besides, people from other areas are also purchasing pooled lands in the new capital after making calculations about the size of the plot they would be getting from the government. This also is delaying distribution of reconstituted plots.
According to reports, there were transactions relating to nearly 6,000 acres after the announcement of the new capital Amaravati. The last date for submission of applications for reconstituted plots was May 25 but still the CRDA is accepting applications from the farmers.
A farmer, N. Nageswara Rao, said wealthy farmers whose children were living in foreign countries are sending money to their parents and they are purchasing land from pooled farmers and submitting applications seeking bigger plots to construct villas and complexes in the future.
The CRDA officials said they would soon stop taking applications seeking allocation of plots and that the government issued orders stalling registration of land in Nelapadu village.
Reconstituted plots would be distributed in eight villages in the capital region after releasing the final layouts.
CRDA vice-chairman and minister for municipal administration P. Narayana said submitting applications for reconstituted plots in the capital region is optional. In the next few days, the CRDA will allot plots according to the norms to all the farmers who pooled their lands for the capital city.
