Hyderabad: Blaming both the BJP and Congress for the present agrarian crisis across the country, TRS leader and MLC Palla Rajeswara Reddy on Wednesday said that the state government has been doing its best for farmers by taking up many welfare and developmental works.

He condemned the death of farmers in police firing in Madhya Pradesh who were demanding remunerative prices for various crops and waiver of crop loans.

Taking pot shots at TS BJP leaders, he said that when farmers were agitating and hitting the roads in BJP-ruled states, local BJP leaders were shedding crocodile tears and targeting the TRS government accusing it of being anti-farmer.

The MLC said that it was the TRS government that waived all outstanding loans of farmers as promised in the party’s election manifesto and Rs 17,000 crore was released to banks which was the highest-ever in the country by a state government.

“Free supply of power, inputs, irrigation to each and every cultivable land are the main targets of the TRS government. Apart from  this, the government will from next year provide Rs 4,000 per acre per crop grant to buy fertilisers and pesticides, which is another first in the country,” the MLC said.

He said present central government headed by BJP and previous governments headed by Congress at Centre and in State did not take farmer friendly measures that aggravated the agrarian crisis in the country.
