Benagluru: Rs 10 crore will be released from the Nagarothana grants to develop Shivapura and Nelagadaranahalli lakes, said Bengaluru Mayor G. Padmavathi, who inspected Peenya Industrial Area, on Wednesday.

The road connecting Peenya Industrial Area and Gruha Laxmi Layout in Shivapura has to be developed, which is a long-standing demand of area residents, she said.

A number of residents staying around Shivapura Lake requested the mayor to issue them “title deeds” for their residential plots.

The residents told Ms Padmavathi and her team, which was inspecting Shivapura Lake, that untreated sewage is being let into the waterbody. Ms Padmavathi said that she will direct the stormwater drain department to stop sewage water from entering the lake and to develop both Shivapura and Nelagadaranahalli lakes.

When residents of Shivapura Colony complained of drinking water problem, she directed BWSSB officials to supply Cauvery water twice a week to the residents.
