Thiruvananthapuram: Monsoon may strike today, 4 dists on alert
An orange alert has been issued in Kollam, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts for June 11.
Thiruvananthapuram: The southwest monsoon is likely to set in over the state on Saturday or Sunday, according to the India Meteorological Department.
The IMD has issued a red alert indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall in Thrissur on June 10 and in Ernakulam, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts on June 11.
An orange alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapurm, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam and Thrissur districts for June 9 and in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Malapp- uram and Kozhikode districts for June 10.
An orange alert has been issued in Kollam, Alappuzha and Kottayam districts for June 11. Warning to fishermen for the next four days from June 8: Squally weather with winds, speed reaching 35-45 kmph, likely to prevail over southwest Arabian Sea off Somalia coast, Lakshadweep, Maldives area, south Arabian Sea and Gulf of Mannar. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.
June 9, 10&11: The same weather will prevail also over southeast and adjoining east central Arabian Sea off Kerala and Karnataka coasts.
