Thol Thirumavalavan demands Rs 1 crore compensation for Neet deaths

Chennai: Lok Sabha member and VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan demanded that the Government pay a compensation of Rs 1 crore to the family members of the three girl students who committed suicide after they failed to qualify in Neet-2019.
In a release on Friday, Thirumavalavan demanded that the government provide employment opportunity the family members of the deceased girls. They have committed suicide due to the wrong policy adopted by the Centre. The BJP government must exempt students from the Tamil Nadu from appearing in the Neet, the statement said.
The Central and State Governments must take necessary steps to prevent such deaths in the future by exempting the Tamil Nadu from Neet. He pointed out that among 75,000 students who appeared for Neet-2019, only 49 per cent of students passed the competitive examination. This year three girl students committed suicide and the death toll increases every year.
"We cannot accept holding a common entrance test for admission into the medical courses for candidates from various sections of the society and every State follows different curriculum", he said. The test is suitable only for students enrolled in CBSE schools and not suitable for students studied in other boards including State Boards, he added.
