63-year-old pillion rider run over by truck in KR Puram

Police said the deceased has been identified as Arogya Swamy, hailing from Tamil Nadu.

Bengaluru: Two people, including a 63-year-old man, died in separate accidents since Friday in K.R. Puram and Old Airport traffic police station limits.
In the first accident on Friday around 5.15 pm, a 63-year-old man, who was riding pillion on a bike died after a mini lorry rear ended the bike.

Police said the deceased has been identified as Arogya Swamy, hailing from Tamil Nadu. He had come to the city to visit his relatives in Hanumanthnagar.
The accident took place near K.R. Puram while Swamy going on the bike with a relative. Swamy died on the spot after sustaining severe head injuries.
The rider sustained minor injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. He was discharged later. The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
The lorry driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

Pedestrian run over
In another accident, a security guard died after being run over by a speeding car in Old Airport traffic police station limits early Saturday.

Police identified the deceased as Dhana Singh, who was working as a security guard at a private company in HAL and residing at Puttar in Kadubeesanahalli.
A senior police officer said the accident took place around 6 am when Dhana was trying to cross the Outer Ring Road while on his way to work.

Preliminary probe reveals that a speeding car knocked him down and sped away. Passersby informed the police who visited the spot and registered a case of hit-and-run.Old Airport traffic police are checking CCTV camera footage and are on the lookout of the accused driver.
