Famous KBR signal switched off for tests
The system has been developed by a Chennai based company and this is its first test. The company is paying for the test itself.
Hyderabad: The testing of the underground signal actuated stop line at KBR junction, which attracted wide attention, was switched off temporarily to carry out checks on Saturday.
Punjagutta ACP, traffic, B. Koteswara Rao said, “We have temporarily stopped and signals and it is being tested. It is working properly.”
Traffic inspector Narsingh Rao said, “We were just checking it. There is a long way to go. For any traffic signal, a particular set of standards should be maintained. We are checking the technical feasibility and other aspects.”
He said the basic aim of embedding the signals in the road was to maintain public discipline on the roads. “Sometimes a driver may jump the signal while following the vehicle ahead and not looking at the signal. This stop line will help them to notice the flashing amber light,” he said.
