TIRUCHY: The state CPI secretary R. Mutharasan has urged the Tamil Nadu Government to clarify to the people what happened to the environmental activist Mugilan for the last 142 days, since he went missing after addressing a press conference on the Sterlite issue, till he was traced at Tirupati railway station on Saturday.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he expressed his  dissatisfaction over the Tamil Nadu Government’s move to appoint retired VAOs’ on contract basis and said it was yet another example of the state government’s inefficiency.

To a question, he said that there was no transparency in both central and Tamil Nadu Governments with regard to the NEET examination issue and said though Tamil Nadu Government passed two bills on the floor of the Assembly during 2017 against the NEET exam and sent them for the President’s assent, they were rejected in September 2018 itself.

Despite this, the Chief Minister Mr. Edappadi K.Palaniswami repeatedly kept saying that the government was continuously making its effort to cancel the NEET examination. He asked whether the Central Government had not informed this to the state government or whether Mr. Palaniswami held this information from the public.

The CPI leader asked why the ruling AIADMK was hesitating to hold the Local Bodies elections when Mr. Palaniswami kept repeating that his party will win the 2021 Assembly elections also.

He demanded that the Tamil Nadu government should move a resolution in the current Assembly session against the proposed hydrocarbon projects in the Cauvery delta.
