Hyderabad: Carpenter suffers electric shock, dies

Hyderabad: A 28-year-old carpenter died after he suffered an electric shock at KPHB on Saturday. Srimanta, hailing from West Bengal, was working in an under construction apartment complex, when the incident happened.

Police said, Srimanta Maity, 28, was working as a carpenter. He came to Hyderabad nearly 10 years ago and was staying at Qutbullapur. Two years ago, he got married and has a nine-month-old son. He was working for contractor Satyanarayana, who employed him to work at an apartment complex in Bhagyanagar colony.

Srimanta and 10 others were working on the third floor of the building on Saturday evening. He was cutting a wooden plank with a machine. “While doing that he suffered an electric shock and fell down. He was declared dead at a nearby private hospital,” KPHB sub inspector M. Saides-hwar said.

A suspicious death case under section 174 CrPC was registered and the body was handed over to the family after postmortem. Police is investigating.
