Mysuru: While farmers in Mysuru, and Mandya districts continued their protest for release of water into canals for irrigation on Monday, BJP workers drenched themselves with cow-dung mixed water in front of the deputy commissioner’s office in Mandya.
Though the state government has agreed to release one tmcft of water for farmers coming under the Hemavathi reservoir, a meeting is said to be held on August 14 on releasing water into canals for farmers in the KRS, Kabini and Harangi reservoir areas, sources said.
Kodagu recorded 15.13 mm of rainfall on Monday. The water level in the KRS reservoir on Monday was 92 feet as against its maximum capacity of 124.80 feet. The inflow was 13,509 cusecs and the outflow leading to Tamil Nadu was 4,813 cusecs.
The water level in the Kabini reservoir was 2270.26 feet as against its maximum capacity of 2284 feet. The inflow was 8111 cusecs and the outflow was 5250 cusecs, leading to TN.
The water level at Harangi was 2858.56 feet as against its capacity 2859 feet. While the inflow was 6862 cusecs, outflow was 5541 cusecs. At Hemavathi, the water level was 2896.58 feet as against its maximum level of 2922 feet. While the inflow was 4006 cusecs, outflow was 2000 cusecs. The outflow into canals was 400 cusecs.
