Karnataka: Ordinance to protect promoted officials

Bengaluru: The State government will bring in an Ordinance, creating super numero posts to save those who got promoted in excess. The Ordinance would be sent to the Governor on Tuesday, Mr Jayachandra said.
As per the Supreme Court observation to maintain adequacy and efficiency, the committee headed by ACS Rathnaprabha had recommended to stick to the 1978 Act. The government had decided not to disturb those who had been promoted in excess. For them, the government would create supero numero posts, subjected to clearance from the finance department.
The cabinet decided to revive VISL, a pioneer in production of high quality alloys and special steels, through a special package which includes allocation of 245 hectares in Sandur taluk. Besides, the cabinet also gave its consent for handing over prospective mining study in Chitradurga, Ballari and Tumakuru districts to MECL.
