BJP trying to poach Congress MLAs, says Dinesh Gundurao
The BJP needs to lure 10-15 MLAs to its side to make sure it has a government with a comfortable majority.
Bengaluru: Is the BJP which missed out on a chance to come to power in the state after the recent Assembly polls by a whisker, back to its game of poaching ruling Congress and JD(S) MLAs to muster a majority on its own? Such reports have gained credence after BJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa and former water resources minister and Congress MLA M.B. Patil boarded the same flight for Delhi on Monday. On Tuesday, Yeddyurappa met BJP national president Amit Shah, reportedly to discuss the possibility of forming a government by toppling the JD(S)-Congress coalition.
The BJP needs to lure 10-15 MLAs to its side to make sure it has a government with a comfortable majority. Mr M.B. Patil is one of the senior Congress leaders who has been sulking after he was left out of the H.D. Kumaraswamy cabinet. He like many other leaders from North Karnataka, is none to happy over the raw deal given to North Karnataka by CM H.D. Kumaraswamy in his budget.
The confirmation on the poaching efforts came from none other than KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao who alleged that the BJP was trying to bring down the coalition government by luring Congress MLAs. He however dismissed reports that some Congress leaders including Municipalities Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi, were in touch with the BJP.
