Hyderabad High Court grants state one week time to decide on Advocate-General

The CJ said that it is for the Cabinet to take the decision for the appointment of the A-G and this court hopes that it would be done within a week.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday said it was hoping the Telangana state Cabinet would take a decision for the appointment of the Advocate-General within a week. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice V. Ramasubramanian was dealing with a petition by former minister and Congress leader Marri Shasidhar Reddy questioning the non-appointment of the A-G by the TS government since March 26, 2018.

When counsel for the petitioner explaining the constitutional provisions with regard to appointment of the A-G for the state, Mr J. Ramachandra Rao, additional advocate-general, told the court that he would ascertain the information pertaining to the appointment of the A-G and would place it before the court in a week. While granting one week time to the government, the CJ said that it is for the Cabinet to take the decision for the appointment of the A-G and this court hopes that it would be done within a week.
