Gowda logic: Tumakuru loss blessing for me

Bengaluru: JD (S) patriarch H D Deve Gowda said his defeat in Tumakuru parliamentary constituency could well prove a blessing in disguise as he plans to spend more time for reviving fortunes of the party, but remarked sarcastically that he wishes

those responsible for his defeat well.
Addressing a convention organized by his party here on Wednesday, Mr Gowda asked his workers to be ready for mid-term polls. "We don't know when elections will be announced.    

I am not worried about whether this government lasts three and a half years. The elections will be decided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah. Once they take a decision, even I will take a decision," he added.
The former PM said everyone in his party should introspect on wrong decisions taken by Dal (S) rather than join the blame game on who brought the coalition government down. Party candidates will be picked after consulting workers in each of the 17 Assembly constituencies likely to witness bypolls to fill vacancies caused by disqualification, he added.

Former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy, who attended the convention though laid low by viral infection, said he committed a blunder by heading a coalition of the Congress and his party as he was treated as a namesake CM. "Our workers thought  they will benefit if I become the CM. This did not happen as I was at the mercy of others. That's the reason I cried in the party office, as I realised  I was drifting away from workers. I did not cry while stepping down but was relieved and happy that day (voting on the confidence motion)" he added.
