Hyderabad: Army Veterans rue irregular pension payout

Hyderabad: As a mark of respect to the Indian Army veterans, a rally of ex-servicemen was organized by 1 EME Centre at Secunderabad on Wednesday.

  The programme was also aimed at providing a platform for them to raise their concerns.

The main issue raised at the event was regarding irregular pensions. The rally was attended by more than 1,000 veterans, including senior retired officers and Veer Naris hailing from the twin cities of Hyderabad as well as Ranga Reddy district.

Major General N. Srinivas Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana state and Andhra Sub Area appealed to the veterans to promote discipline in the society and motivate the youth to join the armed forces.

A number of stalls from various welfare agencies and organisations of the army and civil administration including Ex-Servicemen Grievances Cell, Recruitment Infor-mation Centre, Udchalo Counter, Banking Awareness Counter (SBI and Andhra Bank) were also set up at the venue to spread awareness about various new welfare schemes and initiatives.
