NIT-Warangal 3rd yr student commits suicide

According to his father Biplab Pandey, Kaushik, 20, was on medication for depression for some time.

WARANGAL: An engineering student was found dead in his hostel room on the National Institute of Technology campus in Warangal on Wednesday. The BTech third year Computer Science engineering student was a native of Malda in West Bengal.

According to his father Biplab Pandey, Kaushik, 20, was on medication for depression for some time. He came to drop his son back on campus only on Monday and had been staying in a lodge in Hanamkonda. When he called his son on Wednesday morning, he did not get any response. He rushed to the campus and alerted officials there.

Hostel officials knocked on his door but did not get any response. When they looked inside the room through the window, they found him hanging from the ceiling.

NIT officials said that the student was academically good and had even topped the class during his first year. He had turned negligent in academics since past two years. No suicide note was found inside the room. The dead body was shifted to the MGM hospital for post-mortem. NIT officials added that the institute is making transport arrangements for the body to be sent to his hometown.
