‘Siddhartha case probe hit by transfers’

Bengaluru: Investigation into the death of Café Coffee Day (CCD) founder V G Siddhartha under suspicious circumstances has been suffering due to frequent transfers effected by the newly inducted BJP government.
L Revanasiddaiah, retired IPS officer who handled high profile cases said frequent transfers of senior officers who are handling the case of Siddhartha’s death will affect investigation.
“Definitely, the investigation loses focus. It is important to have right people at the right place. One officer has to get into the thick of things while investigating a case. If another comes into his place he will also have to start from the beginning,” Revanasiddaiah said.
It’s the same with the investigation into the IMA scam, he added. Another senior IPS officer explained that these transfers will hamper the investigation. They should have taken into account all these factors into consideration before giving the transfer orders. “Police officers are answerable to the court for most of their actions. No officers are left in their posts today.
I don’t know who is advising the government on police transfers. I am pained,” he stressed. When Siddhartha’s death occurred, Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sandeep Patil was handling the case.
