Nellore: Even as TD is alleging that a case was registered in Venkatachalam police station against Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy for excess excavation of gravel from Sarvepalli Reservoir, an executive engineer of the irrigation department P. Krishna Mohan categorically denied the charges and said that the accused was not a public representative. He said the phone number mentioned in the application was different from that of MP.

It may be recalled that party politburo member Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy recently alleged that Sarvepalli legislator K Govardhan Reddy used the name of Srinivasulu Reddy for illegal mining, which the legislator vehemently denied.

TD district unit president Beeda Ravichandra demanded the authorities to disclose details of M. Srinivasulu Reddy, s/o Raghava Reddy, whose name is mentioned in the application seeking permission to excavate gravel.

He pointed to the address of the applicant that says Magunta Agro-farms pvt ltd, Magunta layout.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, Ravichandra asked the executive engineer to explain the reasons for granting permission instantly when the mining department clearly informed that there were no permissions for mining in the reservoir areas from January 1 to July 14.

Referring to the complaint lodged by irrigation officials at Venkatachalam police station on June 21 for excess mining of gravel, Ravichandra demanded that the person mentioned in the FIR be produced.

The TD leader advised water resources minister Dr P. Anil Kumar to order for a probe since it involves the reputation of the Magunta family.

The party’s state spokesperson A Venkata Ramana Reddy and district secretary Ch Venkateswara Reddy were present.
