Hyderabad: The AP government on Thursday urged the Hyderabad High Court to pass appropriate orders to reinvestigate the murder of Ayesha Meera, a B.Pharmacy student.

Principal home secretary, AP, in an affidavit, submitted that only the higher court has jurisdiction to order the re-investigation.

Earlier, a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J. Umadevi, asked whether the government had any intention to re-investigate the case. Ayesha was murdered in Ibrahimpatnam near Vijayawada in the 2007. The court had freed Satyam Babu, who had been convicted of the murder.
