Hyderabad: An advertisement in a Kolkata-based newspaper by hair stylist Jawed Habib has landed him in trouble. Advocate Karuna Sagar lodged a complaint in Saidabad and an HCU student filed a complaint at the Gachibowli police station regarding this. They said the ads carried derogatory content about Hindu gods.

Mr Karuna sagar in his complaint said that Jawed Habib had demeaned gods with his ad and demanded action against him. UoH sociology student M. Kumar Sagar said Habib used the pictures of Hindu gods and goddesses to promote his business. The way the gods and goddesses were portrayed hurt religious sentiments, he said in his complaint.

The police who had admitted the complaint forwarded the same for legal opinion.

The ad published in a newspaper a few days ago, read ‘Gods too visit JH Salon’ and showed Hindu goddesses relaxing at JH Beauty Parlour. The ad drew flak on social media.

Meanwhile, Habib apologised for the ad. In a video posted on Wednesday on twitter he said the ad was not issued by his company but by a ‘partner’ without his permission. Apologising Habib released another ad, “wishing you all happiness for Durga puja".
