Hyderabad: Doctors don helmets over safety concerns at Osmania General Hospital

Concrete chunks have been falling from the roof posing threat to the patients and doctors.

Hyderabad: Osmania General Hospital needs immediate attention, prescribed the doctors on Friday. To seek the attention of the authorities over the dilapidated condition, they wore helmets and attended the patients as mark of protest. Concrete chunks have been falling from the roof posing threat to the patients and doctors. Fearing the threat as blocks of ceiling keep falling, doctors demanded new premises to be conducted immediately. Doctors also pointed that some of the junior doctors and PGs were injured. Telangana Junior doctors Association participated in the protest wherein all they checked all the patients in patient and out patient wearing helmets.Representative of OUJAC said, “We gave representations to DME, health minister and health secretary. No action was taken. In last month the cement chunks fell 5 times. This is unsafe not only for doctors but also patients, nurses, and employees. We will continue our protest.”
