Bengaluru: Bengalureans are not only in for an extended weekend thanks to Mahanavami, Vijayadashami and Moharram, but also a string of bank holidays days, starting Saturday.

Going by bank officials, banks will remain closed till Wednesday and then after a break of two days, again close the following weekend. Government offices too will remain closed for most days next week.

A DPAR officer says state government employees will be off work till Wednesday, starting October 8 , which is a second Saturday and so a holiday. “Banks and government offices have not scheduled any major business next week as the staff strength is expected to be thin with most employees going out of town on account of the many holidays,” said the officer.

With banks being closed, commercial activities like land registration, and buying of vehicles are expected to take a hit. Using ATMs too could be a problem with no one to load them.

In fact, it’s raining bank holidays this month as they will be closed again for a few  days at the month- end for the Diwali holidays.

“In all  banks will be closed for 13 days in October,” said a bank officer.
