Shivamogga: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, K.S. Eswharappa, who has had a running feud of late with state party president, and former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa over his  newly launched Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, will keep away from its convention on October 8 as instructed to by  party national general secretary, Ramlal, who was in Bengaluru to broker peace on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr Eshwarappa admitted that Mr.Yeddyurappa had some misgivings about the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, but they would be resolved in a week to 10 days.

“Party seniors have instructed us to resolve the Brigade issue through mutual discussion. In the meanwhile, I have been told not to participate in the Brigade’s convention in Tumakuru on Saturday. Being a disciplined party worker , I will do as told and stay away from the  event,” he said, however, clarifying that he would not disassociate fully from the Brigade’s activities and would take part in its meeting in Bengaluru on Saturday. The BJP leader reiterated that  the intention of the Brigade was to help bring the BJP to power in the state and also ensure justice to the oppressed classes of  society.

Admitting that there was some confusion over the appointment of party office bearers by the BJP state president, Mr Eshwarappa said  the issue would be discussed and sorted out amicably.

After Tumakuru convention, KSE  to end brigade
Is it curtains down for the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade (SRB) of senior BJP leader, K S Eshwarappa after its Tumakuru convention on Saturday? President of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) Morcha , B.J. Puttaswamy believes it could be. He claims the former Deputy CM will wind up SRB , bowing to the wishes of the party’s Central leadership.  In his view he is unlikely to ignore the advice of national general secretary (organisation), Ramlal, to put an end to  SRB’s activities. “He  warned Eshwarappa not to hold these meetings saying it amounted to dissidence and the latter told him Saturday’s SRB convention would be its last and it would not hold any more in future.  He also promised to work within the party organization,” Mr Puttaswamy maintained. Asserting that SRB’s conventions had not affected the party or created confusion among workers, he claimed they ended up being damp squibs.
