Hyderabad: Describing carving out 31 districts as “unscientific and motivated,” the Telangana Telugu Desam Party has decided to take the issue to the Centre, the law ministry and the Election Commission.

Telangana Telugu Desam’s working president A. Revanth Reddy said that with the pending delimitation of Assembly constituencies, the government cannot change even village boundaries, but the Telangana state government threw norms to the winds and post haste carved out new districts.

Mr Reddy also alleged that the districts were being carved out only to marginalise Dalit leaders and other political opponents in nearly 40 Assembly constituencies.

“We will complain to the Union home ministry, law ministry and the Election Commi-ssion against the blatant misuse of power,” the Telangana Telugu Desam working president said.

“Why is the Telangana government carving new districts post haste instead of waiting till completion of delimitation of the Assembly constituencies?” he asked.
