I-T department attaches property of former Bihar CM Rabri Devi over benami deals

Patna: The income-tax department attached properties worth crores allegedly belonging to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s wife and former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi.
Sources said the I-T department which had earlier slapped charges under the Benami Transaction Act against Mr Lalu Yadav’s family for amassing properties worth '1,000 crore initiated the move and attached at least three properties belonging Rabri Devi and daughter Hema Yadav.
Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi released a statement on Saturday and confirmed that benami assets of Rabri Devi and her daughter Hema Yadav were attached by the income-tax department.
“The income-tax department has started taking action against Lalu Yadav and his wife Rabri Devi. A cowshed worker Lalan Chaudhary and railway helper Hridaynath Chaudhary had gifted their land to Rabri Devi and daughter Hema Yadav in 2014”, Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said.
