Singur water to be released for second crop in Medak, Nizamabad districts

Around 9 tmc ft will be diverted to Nizamsagar project to provide irrigation to second crop.

The Singur Dam has been getting significant inflows due to the recent rains in the Manjeera catchment area.

Hyderabad: The state government will supply irrigation water to second crop in erstwhile Nizamabad and Medak districts for the first time. 

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao directed officials to provide irrigation to 2 lakh acres in these two districts. Minister Harish Rao said the releases would begin on Saturday.

Singur has 27 tmc ft of water. Around 9 tmc ft will be diverted to Nizamsagar project to provide irrigation to second crop. 

By releasing water thr-ough Singur, two lakh acres in Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Medak, And-hole constituencies will get water for the second crop, Mr Harish Rao said. The CM had approved their requests, he said.
