Visakhapatnam: The non-political Joint Action Committee (JAC), which organised the Visakhapatnam Garjana last year with profound success, has begun its new journey of visiting temples, mosques and churches; seeking blessings for the smooth shifting of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to Visakhapatnam by Dasara.

Talking to this correspondent on Sunday, JAC chairman Prof. Hanumanthu Lajpathi Rai said they visited the Sampath Vinayak and Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi temples on Saturday and offered pujas. On Sunday, they attended a mass at the Yehova Shama Church in Gajuwaka.

At these venues, JAC members sensitised people about making Visakhapatnam the capital of Andhra Pradesh, so that migration of people from the backward north Andhra could stop. Gajuwaka MLA Tippala Nagireddy and Christian Minority Development Corporation chairman John Wesley were present.

The JAC is preparing to visit the Sun Temple in Arasavalli, apart from Sri Kurmam, Srimukhalingam and Ammavari temple in Patpatnam, all in Srikakulam, Annavaram Temple in East Godavari and Kanakadurga temple in Vijayawada.

The committee members will visit Modakondamma Temple in Paderu on October 17 for which they have held discussions with Paderu MLA K. Bhagyalakshmi on Sunday.

On Wednesday and Thursday, three senior Mullahs will address congregations of Muslim minorities at different venues in Visakhapatnam City to create awareness regarding the decentralisation of administration and making Visakhapatnam the capital of AP.

“Discussions will be held with business organisations, builders, real estate agents and traders regarding the positive impact shifting of capital to Visakhapatnam will have on their business,” the JAC chairman stated.

He maintained that their programmes would continue till the arrival of Jagan Mohan Reddy in Vizag.

Incidentally, the JAC is preparing a grand welcome for the Chief Minister when he arrives in Visakhapatnam, making it his base for administering the state of Andhra Pradesh.
