Telangana HC Seeks GHMC Response on Alleged Unauthorised Construction in Begumpet

Hyderabad: Justice T. Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court sought the response of the GHMC to alleged unauthorised construction opposite Greenlands, Begumpet. The judge was dealing with a writ plea filed by Bharat Kumar Ramani, challenging the inaction of the GHMC in not taking action after issuing a showcause notice in March 2023. He alleged that one Krishna Das and his family had without authorization made constructions in the stilt floor, which had been shown or earmarked for the purpose of parking in the sanctioned plan. For this, the GHMC issued a showcause notice but the authorities were now ignoring the matter.

Hostel welfare officers rules challenged

A two-judge bench of the Telangana High Court comprising Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice N.V. Shravan Kumar took on file a writ challenging Rule 5 of the Telangana Scheduled Castes development department subordinate officers service rules 2022. The petitioners were hostel welfare officers, Grade II, seeking Grade I posts. Prasen Gundavaram, counsel appearing for the petitioners, said that without amending the rules, new eligibility criteria were laid down. Earlier, a graduate hostel welfare officer was entitled to be considered for promotion. Under the impugned order they are required to have a BEd degree in addition to their basic graduation degree.

SCR credit society elections stayed

Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy of the Telangana High Court stayed elections to the South Central Railway Employees Co-operative Credit Society which has a membership of over 42,000 persons across five southern states. The order comes in a writ petition filed by Dandu Ratnakar Kishore Kumar, society member, questioning the appointment of a retired registrar as election returning officer. Earlier, the society had requested the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to nominate a person as returning officer but proceeded to make the impugned appointment. The petitioner would contend that under the relevant rules, an assistant registrar or deputy registrar can be a returning officer. The general body elects 210 delegates who in turn elect 21 directors to the managing committee. The judge suspended the appointment and posted the case for hearing on October 9.  

HC seeks GHMC view on fire NoC

Justice T. Vinod Kumar of the Telangana High Court sought the response of the GHMC by October 12 for issuing an occupancy certificate to a building taller than 15 metres without verifying whether it had a no-objection certificate (NoC) from the fire services department, or not. The judge was dealing with a writ plea filed by M. Vinod Kumar and others alleging that Hilton Restaurant at Khairtabad was running without the NoC, in violation of the GHMC Act 1955. The restaurant said that under the provisions of the Act, despite the building being taller than 15 metres, if there are multiple owners, they can approach the GHMC individually and obtain the NoC. They have done so, the respondents said.
